With 26 years of experience, Eric has undertaken a wide range of general litigation work. He, however, specializes in Matrimonial, Criminal, Contract, Tort, Wills and Probate matters.

Mr eric advises on nullify of marriages. He has also handled multi-million-dollar matrimonial disputes and has taken steps from time to time to freeze assets so that the opposite party do not run away with it. Such complex decisions are handled with a commercial angle in mind as he collaborates with the commercial team helmed by Mr Shankar who heads our commercial dispute team so that the clients’ assets are kept intact.

When a 3rd party rights (say for example parents siblings) are affected in a divorce between husband and wife and these assets are in the center of despite Mr Eric has advised clients to take out the necessary application in the Supreme Court so that the rights of the 3rd party interest are protected and ringfenced from the rest of the matrimonial property dispute.

In fact, in a recent multi-million dollar dispute he has also advised on the 3rd party interest in a company’s shares that and that a declaration of trust was required to give effect to the equitable ownership.

Mr Eric also handles maintenance support for children and spouses before and after divorce so that the family’s financial need is taken care of.

Recently Mr Eric has also handled an international abduction case wherein the child was taken away from China and brought to Singapore and Mr Eric had to take up a mirror order to give effect to the foreign court order and even liaise with other foreign lawyers to give deliver practical solutions to the client.

Mr Eric also works with foreign lawyers when parties’ disputes goes beyond Singapore and in doing so deliver seamless solutions for the clients.

Mr Eric also liaises with the Singapore immigration authorities to ensure that the clients’ interest are all protected.

During the disputes many a times Mr Eric works with other experts like valuers on company assets and property both locally and internationally to ascertain the true value of the assets. In conjunction with the commercial team led my Mr Shankar Mr Eric also advises on the correct valuation of company shares depending on the method of valuation so as to act in the best interest of his clients

Mr Eric also has advised on both pre-nuptial and post nuptial agreements for our clients.

On the domestic violence front Mr Eric being also a very experienced criminal lawyer advises on the steps to take such as PPO and when a non-family i.e. 3rd party is involved, he has taken steps in the civil courts for harassment under the POHA.

Together with the background of criminal and civil law Mr Eric gives the best advice for his clients who face both simple as well as complex family matters.

Mr Eric also handles matters involving sibling disputes on their parents’ assets. He advises on asset tracing when a family member who are in charge of their parents’ assets run away with it or in some cases spend it away.

Being versatile with commercial practice, Mr Eric has taken steps including injunction etc to ensure that the assets are not dissipated until the matter is resolved in court. Mr Eric has also has vast experience in mediating all types of matters so that the clients can resolve their matter where amicably and have a win win solution to their problem.

Mr Eric also advises clients on mental capacity and the court application on such areas. From time to time when someone makes a disposition when in actual fact he is not physically or mentally capable of Mr Eric has taken applications to set aside such dispositions.

Dealing with such situations requires a delicate understanding of commercial as well as trust law and civil procedure so as to deliver the right results.

Eric also consistently represents clients in numerous aspects of Criminal and Military Laws. His previous cases have involved matters such as murder, drug consumption and trafficking, rape, unlawful assembly, theft and others at both the Subordinate and Supreme Court levels. He is presently on the Court Appointed Capital cases list, assisting clients in serious drug trafficking cases which face imminent death penalties.

His civil work, among other things, involves resolving various debt recovery, personal injury, motor accident, industrial accident as well as contractual disputes. These disputes are often resolved in the Subordinate and High Court. However, when the occasion is appropriate, Eric takes on the role as a negotiator to settle the issue out of court.
