It might be challenging to prevail in a medical negligence claim. It needs proof that the patient was harmed due to the doctor’s activities and that they were below the standard of care. At a hospital in Georgia, Kiara Taylor gave birth to her baby in 2019. The baby’s head got stuck in the birth canal during delivery, and the doctor had to use too much effort to get her out. The infant sustained long-term head trauma as a result.
Additionally, the hospital could have increased the severity of the child’s injuries by improperly monitoring the baby’s oxygen levels during birth. Due to these reasons, Taylor sued the hospital and the doctor who delivered her child.
The case presumably focused on whether the doctor and hospital staff failed to meet the necessary standard of care during the delivery and whether medical negligence occurred. Since Taylor and the defendants made a confidential settlement, it is unclear how much money Taylor received in total.
