BIOGRAPHY

Cornelius graduated from the Singapore University of Social Sciences and was subsequently admitted to the bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

Prior to joining private practice, Cornelius served as an in-house Compliance & Legal Counsel for 2 years to a Parent Company and its nine Subsidiaries. During which time, he worked with instructed solicitors to settle an array of contractual and commercial disputes including debt recovery, specific performance applications, injunction applications to prevent the dissipation of assets and general litigation.

Cornelius was also responsible for protecting the companies’ interests by ensuring compliance with various government bodies including IRAS, HDB, MOM and SFA. He was also the Legal Representative of the group of Subsidiaries and successfully mediated matters with MOM for employment related disputes, as well as, successfully negotiated settlements worth more than SGD 200,000 with property agencies and international suppliers over Sale and Purchase disputes.

Since coming into practice, Cornelius has assisted in heavily contested divorce matters with matrimonial assets worth more than SGD 12million. Cornelius is also familiar with representing clients in simplified, uncontested and other contested divorce proceedings.

One of his areas of specialization is Probate/Administration proceedings and he has handled probate matters with Estate assets worth millions of dollars both locally and internationally. He is particularly familiar with succession laws and procedures governing Estate distribution locally, in China and Malaysia and will be able to value-add and guide his international clients in this regard.

His other areas of practice include Civil Litigation, Road Traffic & Industrial Accident claims, Personal Injury cases and Medical Negligence.
